About This Episode

Neal Sendlak shares how a prison sentence became the turning point that pushed him into a deep search for truth. While incarcerated, he read the Bible cover to cover and began comparing it with texts from other traditions like Buddhism, the Upanishads, and the Vedas — trying to understand which worldview felt complete to him. After leaving prison, he dove fully into church life, attending multiple times a week, even holding a key to the building. That season became not only his foundation in Christianity but also the time where he learned video editing and developed new skills that shaped his future. When did you become a Christian to the point where you really cared to know if it's true? >> When I went to prison. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. In 2011, >> I went to prison for possession and use and all that stuff. >> And uh and then I started reading the Bible cover to cover when I was in there. And then I started going to the library and reading other religious stuff like stuff about Buddhism, Upanishads, Vadas. And I was like comparing them and kind of like looking at both and which one of these is true. But then when I I didn't really answer that question in prison. I became a Christian. I thought Christianity was the best. Thought the Bible was the most like complete and the other ones were like eh >> JV. >> Yeah. Exactly. And then when I got out I had nosed a nose dive deep into the church. Went to church twice a week. Uh was the first one there. I had I had the key to the church. I got there before the pastor. Sometimes I started that's how I learned how to edit videos.
